Dr. McGinn originally hails from Andover, MA and began his journey into higher education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMASS) where he earned a Bachelors of science in pre-veterinary and animal science. He remained at UMass for an additional year to complete a Masters degree in Neuroscience and Behavior working with Rhesus Macaque monkeys.
From UMASS, he packed his bags and moved to Starkville, MS, where he completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM). After graduating from MSU, Dr. McGinn pursued a three year residency program in veterinary anatomic and comparative pathology with dual appointments at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine (NCSU CVM) and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC Chapel Hill).
Following completion of his residency, Dr. McGinn joined the team at Catawba Animal Clinic as a small animal associate veterinarian. Dr. McGinn’s professional interests are in anatomic and clinical pathology and oncology.
Dr. McGinn and his wife (Meghan) have two dogs (Mango and Skylar) and four cats (Eleanor, Quinn, Fish, and Pickles). Outside of work Dr. McGinn enjoys woodworking, chess, running, videogames, and reading books. Dr. McGinn’s proudest accomplishment is the birth of his baby girl (Daphne).
